Wand & Order is built around three sorting zones: the Archives, the Wand Workshop, and the Alchemy Lab. Steam lists roughly 470 items in Zone 1, roughly 1,300 in Zone 2, and more than 2,200 in Zone 3. Pick the zone below for a playable route rather than a generic room description.

How to use zones while sorting

  1. Identify the room first. A tarot clue belongs in the Archives, a wand clue belongs in the Wand Workshop, and potion or ingredient clues belong in the Alchemy Lab.
  2. Finish one trustworthy shelf or display so it becomes a reference for the rest of the family.
  3. Read the held item name before trusting color, container shape, or artwork.
  4. Use Vision for a known set, Magnetic Vacuum for nearby matches, and Auto-Place when the destination is the bottleneck.
  5. Treat Zone 1 color and group advice as patch-sensitive because Hotfix 1.1 changed Archives presentation.
  6. When a room looks clear, run the last-item route and check cleaning progress separately.

Zone troubleshooting

Archives Problems

  • Do not use color alone after Hotfix 1.1; compare suit, deck treatment, trim, and shelf examples together.
  • Separate Major Arcana from Cups, Wands, Swords, and Pentacles before moving cards between shelves.
  • If one card blocks progress, open the tarot or Major Arcana guide rather than rechecking every room from scratch.

Wand Workshop Problems

  • Check the case or cabinet label before trusting wand shape.
  • Compare material and school against nearby examples, especially when two displays look similar.
  • Recheck the upper floor, side spaces, and shelf ends before assuming the last wand is missing.

Alchemy Lab Problems

  • Split tins, jars, bottles, potions, and ingredients before choosing a display.
  • Work one floor or passage at a time so similar containers do not get mixed across levels.
  • If the counter stalls, check cleaning tasks and hidden edges before moving every potion again.

Official zone facts

Steam describes three areas with unique sorting challenges:

  • Zone 1: The Archives, focused on tarot decks.
  • Zone 2: The Wand Workshop, focused on magic wands.
  • Zone 3: The Alchemy Lab, focused on potions and ingredients.

The store page also describes cleaning tasks beyond sorting, including sweeping, cleaning picture frames, and watering plants. This page keeps those as zone context until a dedicated cleaning task page has current-version evidence.
